Robert A. Bleicher, Director
Mr. Bleicher focuses his practice on commercial litigation. As lead trial counsel in complex business disputes, Mr. Bleicher has tried and litigated matters involving business transactions, product liability issues, construction disputes, employment matters, and a wide range of financial investments.
Mr. Bleicher’s clients include Fortune 500 companies, major foreign corporations, and closely held businesses involved in technology, construction, transportation, manufacturing, food services, industrial gases, real estate, securities and insurance. The matters he handles concern tort, mass tort, breach of contract, warranty, and unfair business practice issues before trial and appellate courts and various arbitration forums. He has extensive experience in toxic exposure and catastrophic injury claims. Mr. Bleicher’s international transportation practice focuses on commercial disputes, casualties, and environmental claims. His litigation practice also routinely extends to matters such as trade secret misappropriation, misleading advertising, and wrongful termination claims. As part of his commercial litigation practice, Mr. Bleicher has extensive ADR experience in mediation and arbitration.
Representative matters handled by Mr. Bleicher include:
- Obtained significant judgment for a major construction contractor in a two month trial against a subcontractor involving a comprehensive hotel renovation project.
- Defended a global industrial company in multi-million dollar claim involving the design and construction of an industrial facility.
- Successfully defended the parent of a global project management company in a $100 million claim involving complex alter ego and conspiracy theories. Case settled on very favorable terms after filing motion for summary judgment.
- Represented a major Silicon Valley company in three complex and connected trade secret cases involving its leading edge technology, resulting in a very favorable resolution.
- Obtained very favorable settlement after first week of trial for a global industrial company in a claim stemming from the catastrophic explosion of a high pressure oxygen gas line.
- Summary judgment granted for the manufacturer of a top loader in an accident resulting in severe traumatic brain injuries to the crane’s operator.
- Litigated and favorably resolved claims of fraud, misrepresentation and unfair business practices involving the design of a state-of-the-art VoIP system.
- Obtained summary judgment in an age-race discrimination claim; defended major domestic and foreign corporations in employment claims alleging wrongful termination based on gender, race, age, and violation of public policy.
- Secured recovery of over $4 million in marine bio-diesel as security for a $9 million breach of contract claim of behalf of a cruise line operator, leading to a very advantageous settlement for the client.
- Extensive arbitration experience in defense of investor claims against major Wall Street broker-dealers and their registered representatives.
